Today Sustainable Aviation (SA) has announced the appointment of Duncan McCourt as its first Chief Executive. Duncan joins SA from Brunswick where he was a Partner, leading teams to support international clients with corporate reputation, public policy, and competition issues. Prior to this, Duncan was Chief of Staff and Special Advisor to former Chancellor Rt Hon Phillip Hammond MP, and also served as a Special Advisor to Phillip Hammond as the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. Before that, Duncan was chief executive at MCA Ltd, a management consulting firm, and held roles at Credit Suisse and JPMorgan Chase in London, and the World Bank and KPMG in Washington, D.C. Duncan is also a Non-Executive Director of the National Citizen Service Trust.

Duncan McCourt, Sustainable Aviation’s newly appointed CEO, said:

“I’m excited to be starting today as the new CEO of Sustainable Aviation. The industry has already made significant progress on the journey to Net Zero, but there is a long way further to go. The industry and Government are committed to going the distance on this and I look forward to playing my part in bringing the two together, along with other stakeholders, to deliver a genuinely sustainable future for aviation.”

Neil Robinson, Chair of Sustainable Aviation, said:

“We are thrilled that Duncan has joined Sustainable Aviation as its first Chief Executive, at this critical time for the UK’s aviation sector and as we look to drive forward progress achieving net zero carbon emissions and lowering our environmental impact, whilst retaining the considerable benefits that aviation brings to all the nations and regions of the UK.

As a coalition Sustainable Aviation has grown rapidly and moves from strength to strength as the united voice of UK aviation focussed on delivering UK leadership towards a more sustainable future for our sector. The appointment of our first Chief Executive will help further accelerate progress and Duncan brings with him extensive experience of Government and the political process, knowledge that will be crucial as we work in partnership with Government to deliver the exciting opportunities to deliver innovation, cut emissions, lower noise, and create thousands of new jobs over the next few crucial years.”
