Responding to the report published today by the Civil Aviation Authority on Managing Aviation Noise, Jonathon Counsell, Chair of Sustainable Aviation, said:

“Sustainable Aviation welcomes the publication of the Managing Aviation Noise report and we will continue to work closely with the CAA to build on our strong track record of reducing the noise impacts of aviation in the UK.

“In 2013 we launched the world’s first Noise Road-Map that demonstrates that UK aviation can reduce the impacts of noise despite significant growth in the industry between now and 2050 through a combination of improved operating procedures, advanced aviation engine and aircraft technology and better land use planning measures. UK aviation – including airports, airlines, manufacturers and air navigation service providers – has been successful in improving its noise performance in recent years and we look forward to working with the CAA and other stakeholders to deliver future improvements.”

The Sustainable Aviation Noise Road-Map was published in April 2013 and demonstrated that despite an expected near doubling in air traffic movements over the next 40 years, noise from UK aviation will not increase, through a combination of improved operating procedures, advanced aviation engine and aircraft technology and better land use planning measures.
