Sustainable Aviation Response to King’s Speech

Sustainable Aviation’s Chair – Matt Gorman – has provided the following comment in response to the King’s announcement of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (Revenue Support Mechanism Bill) in today’s King’s Speech:
“This announcement represents a significant milestone in UK aviation’s journey to net zero. A revenue certainty mechanism will turbocharge private investment in the UK’s emerging Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) industry, helping to produce the hundreds of thousands of tonnes of fuel needed each year to meet the UK’s ambitious SAF mandate. That, in turn, will ensure the cost of flying remains competitive for consumers and create thousands of new green jobs.

We look forward to working with the Government towards a Government-backed and funded scheme as soon as possible, so that UK-produced SAF – currently on average 70% less carbon intensive than fossil jet fuel – can play its full part in our important journey to net zero aviation this decade and beyond, whilst creating thousands of jobs across the nations and regions of the UK.”
